The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Minnesota seeks a fulltime ABP certified neuropathologist. Academic rank, compensation and appointment type will be based on qualifications and experience. Candidates must have a well-demonstrated ability in teaching and in scholarly productivity in neuropathology or experimental neuropathology/neuroscience. Minimum requirements are an M.D or equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Minnesota, board certified or board eligible in AP, AP/CP or AP/NP, completion of an ACGME-accredited pathology residency training program, ACGME accredited fellowship training in neuropathology, and neuropathology board certified or board eligible. Preferred candidates for this position will have demonstrated clinical expertise and an established research program in a neuroscience area of neuro-oncology.
Neuropathology sign-out responsibilities, intra-operative consultations, on-call duties, autopsy, resident supervision, and conferences are shared with other members of the neuropathology faculty. The department has recently started a new ACGME accredited neuropathology fellowship program; active participation in the training of neuropathology fellows is required. Leadership opportunities in education, institutional bio banking and digital pathology exist for qualified candidates. Academic time will be used to pursue scholarly work in the candidate’s area of specialty/research expertise. Academic faculty will be active in their national organizations and foster an academic environment for medical students, residents and faculty. This position will have focused subspecialty sign-out with protected time to develop an investigational career, with a goal of developing collaborative or independent research.
