Summary: Serves as trauma registry subject matter expert and resource regarding database content, coding, and reporting.
Responsibilities: Responsible for extracting data elements from the electronic health record and other sources for detailed clinical and demographic information for the completion and coding of a patient into the Trauma Registry.
Writes and maintains reports from the registry for use by both internal and external customers. Responsible for the initial review and corrections of data in preparation for data submissions to regulatory agencies.
Acts as primary vendor contact related to annual updates to data fields, software updates/ upgrades, requests for database optimization and maintaining department change log.
Provides primary support for data validation as required by regulatory agencies.
Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
Minimum Required Education : High school diploma or GED. Preferred : AAAM Coding Course completion, ATS Trauma Registrar (or equivalent) course completion
Required Licensure/Certification : Certified Abbreviated Injury Scoring Specialist (CAISS), or Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR).
Minimum Experience : 3 years of relevant trauma registry experience.
Additional Skills : Superior MS Office Excel skills
